Shimpi Community

Traditionally, we have been a community of tailors. However, we have always had a high social standing in society and bracketed along with the Rajputs, Kayasthas and Prabhus. We can be divided into Shimpis who are Jains, Marathis and Telugus. The Marathi Shimpis are often Lingayats and the Telugu Shimpis are generally Vaishnavas.
